27th Annual Trailblazer Race
With the pandemic, it is uncertain if it will be safe to hold our conventional fall race in Mountain View. Realizing that many in our community like to participate in some sort of an event, we are hosting a virtual race allowing us to continue our long-standing tradition. By participating, you will not only support a worthy cause but have an opportunity to take charge of your mental and physical well-being. What better way than getting some exercise? With a virtual race you can run or walk anywhere and invite your friends regardless of their location to participate with you! All proceeds help us advocate for the Stevens Creek and Permanente Creek trails—their extension and improvements as well as protection of the wildlife corridors—a gift for the entire community.
Great Race for a Great Cause
Proceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, and the only organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Ideally, come September you’ll still be able to go for a run, hike or walk on the Stevens Creek or Permanente Creek Trails, but even if the trails are closed, you can still participate. You may run or walk at any time between September 17th-September 27th. This is being done to make it easier to maintain social distance. To avoid contact with race organizers, all T-shirts will be sent by mail after the race. During the pandemic, please follow all county guidelines and recommendations for everyone’s safety and to help ensure that trail access be kept open.
Dates: Friday, September 17th - September 27th, 2021
This year you have a full 11-days to participate in one or all three events with the time, day and location of your choosing.
Events: 5K Run, 10K Run, 3-Mile Walk
Deadline to submit your times for the 5K, 10K or both is Monday, September 27th. You can enter results by downloading the IYR app or send digital proof of results by email to On Your Mark Events. Walk results are not timed or able to be uploaded. If you choose not to upload any results that’s okay too! You will still receive your shirt by mail and have made a meaningful contribution.
Fees: $40 all ages, all events 5K, 10K or 3-mile walk per participant.
Participate in one or all three for one low price! Fees are non-refundable.
T-Shirt: All paid participants receive a Trailblazer Race T-shirt. They are Hanes Extra Beefy T’s, soft and 100% cotton with minimal to no shrinkage. (If you’ve participated before you know how great they are!) You will receive your shirt by mail 4-6 weeks after the event. Shirts can only be mailed within the United States.
Our Premiere Event of the Year
The Trailblazer Race raises community awareness and essential funds allowing us to promote community involvement and pride in the completion, enhancement and enjoyment of trails and wildlife corridors in the Stevens Creek watershed. Stevens Creek Trail was started in 1990 and currently extends over five miles from Shoreline Park to Dale-Heatherstone in Mountain View, close to the Sunnyvale border. Cupertino opened its first section of trail in 2010 and has over one mile completed. Los Altos and Sunnyvale are studying possible connecting routes. Individual cities along Stevens Creek actually build the trail, but it takes many years of preparation and hard work behind the scenes to achieve. Increasing public awareness, support, and consensus must come first, which is the role of the Friends. During this global pandemic we feel that urban trails are more important than ever and greatly appreciate your support.
